GoDaddy Alternatives

Tired of GoDaddy? There are several reasons why you may be tired of them and anxious for an alternative.

  • Was it because the support they showed for SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) that lead to 22,000 boycotters to move over 82,000 domain names from GoDaddy servers?
  • Was it because of the “Elephant Killer” reputation that the CEO Bob Parsons received back in 2011?
  • Was it because of a catchy price at the start but then you notice that everything is an extra that you have to pay for, or the prices are only valid for the first year?

Whichever the reason, you are probably reading this because you are looking for a GoDaddy Alternative. And here I’ll expose GoDaddy and suggest the 3 best alternatives to GoDaddy.

1st Godaddy AlternativeHostgator
Hostgator
Most of the users that buy GoDaddy services choose them because the ease of use, most of them end up buying/subscribing a lot of extra services that they don’t even need. So the first Godaddy Alternative that I recommend is Hostgator.

Hostgator is very user friendly, they are no small fries, they are hosting over 9,000,000 domains! They have 3 plans that you may choose from (that makes everything easier) that are similar (but better) compared to GoDaddy. I’ll resume them to make it as simple and reader friendly as possible to you.

Hatchling Plan ($3.96/month)

  • Single Domain
  • Unlimited Disk Space
  • Unlimited Bandwidth
  • Unlimited MySQL Databases
  • Unlimited Email Addresses
  • Unlimited Sub Domains
  • Unlimited FTP Accounts
  • $100 credit on Google Adwords
  • Latest cPanel

Note: This is the best option if you plan to host only one website but you don’t want to worry about any limitation, either disk space, bandwidth, etc.

Baby Plan ($6.36/month)
(All the same as Hatchling Plan but with:)

  • Unlimited Domains
  • Unlimited Add-on / Parked Domains
  • Private SSL Allowed
  • Dedicated IP Allowed

Note: This is the best option if you plan to host a lot of websites without need to worry about any limitation either.

Business Plan ($10.36/month)
All the same as Baby Plan but with:

  • Your Own Toll-Free Number
  • Free Dedicated IP
  • Free Private SSL
  • Anonymous FTP

Note: This is the top notch solution. As the name suggests, it is a Business Plan.

All of the Hostgator hosting plans come with: WordPress Hosting, CGI, Fast CGI, PHP 5, Ruby on Rails, SSH, Perl, Python, SSI, Cron, FrontPage, Curl, GD 2, Image Magick, Streaming Audio/Video, Free Module Installation, WebMail, Email Alias, Auto Responders, Mailing Lists, Catch Alls, Spam Assasin, Mail Forwarding, IMAP Support, SMTP, Soholaunch, Hotlink Protection, IP Deny Manager, Custom Error Pages, Instant Blogs, Instant Portals, Instant PHPnuke, Instant Forums, Instant Guestbook, Instant Counter, Instant FormMail, Redirect URL, Web Based File Manager, PW Protected Directories, phpMyAdmin, AWStats, Webalizer, Raw Log Manager, Referrer Logs, Error Logs, Sharred SSL, osCommerce, ZenCart, Cube Cart.

2nd GoDaddy AlternativeBlueHost
BlueHost
Bluehost is similar to Hostgator, but a little more expensive.
They also have 3 hosting plans, compared to Hostgator, the first Bluehost plan (Started Plan) is not so great. The second plan (Plus Plan) is very similar to Hostgator Baby Plan, but a few cents more expensive.

Starter Plan ($4.95/month):

  • Single Domain (website)
  • Website Space: 100GB
  • Included Domains: 1
  • Parked Domains: 5
  • Sub Domains: 25
  • Email Accounts: 100
  • Email Storage: 500MB per account
  • Marketing offers: $50 included

Note: This is a good choice for hosting a simple website, without many sub domains neither a lot of email addresses. But be aware of the disk space limitations (website space and email storage).

Plus Plan
($6.95/month)

  • Unlimited Websites
  • Unlimited Website Space
  • Included Domains: 1
  • Unlimited Parked Domains
  • Unlimited Sub Domains
  • Unlimited Email Accounts
  • Unlimited Email Storage
  • Marketing offers: $200 included
  • Global CDN
  • SpamExperts: 1

Note: This is a similar plan to Hostgator Baby Plan, it’s great to host a lot of websites without needing to worry about disk space limitations.

Business Pro
($14.95/month)
Basically it is the Plus Plan but with the following extras:

  • SpamExpers: 2
  • SSL: 1
  • Dedicated IP: 1
  • Domain Privacy: 1
  • SiteBackup Pro
  • High Performance

Note: As the name says, this is the Business plan, the “high performance” is a way of Bluehost saying that this plans have processing power priority compared to the other plans, in other words, it will deliver a faster hosting service.

3rd GoDaddy AlternativeDreamhost

I saved DreamHost for last because they only offer a hosting plan, although it is a good plan, and they have a lot of very good reviews. The problem is, if you are only hosting one website, it will be expensive compared to the basic plans of the other hosting alternatives that I suggested like Hostgator and BlueHost.

Dreamhost Plan ($9.95/month, now for only $5.95/month!)

  • Free Domain Name
  • Unlimited Storage
  • Unlimited Bandwidth
  • Unlimited Email

Note: Simply putting, they offer unlimited “everything” single plan with a fixed price. It is ideal to host a lot of websites without needing to worry about limitations.

In resume, the three best alternatives that I suggest to you are:

  • Hostgator (as number 1 GoDaddy Alternative) for those of you who want something simple, functional and without an exaggerated price tag.
  • Bluehost (as number 2 GoDaddy Alternative) as a similar alternative compared to Hostgator, in case you don’t like Hostgator.
  • Dreamhost (as number 3 Godaddy Alternative) as a simple plan, mind free alternative.

Just pick the one that fits you and take a look!
